I have been there.
I thought the only way to land a promotion was to work harder, take on more projects, and deliver my daily job 100%.
And so, like most people, I wasted hours upon hours trying to multitask, serving other's people deadlines, creating even more work for myself taking time away from my friends and family. I followed all the "corporate finance" career blue-print, jumping to new roles hoping to get noticed.
Nothing worked, and during first 10 years of my career I was promoted only once!

Finally, I had a breakthrough.
You don't grow your career by working extra hours, pursuing unnecessary qualifications, or taking on a lot of work. You do it by focusing on value-add projects, building the strong reputation and network, and developing a WINNING mindset
I was doing all the wrong things ... my contribution to the company was not clear. It made complete sense in my head, that I wasn't focusing on what was important to the company, and doing my daily job well was not enough to stand-out!
I was creating the wrong perception about myself. Believe it or not, being on-time and meeting on the deadlines for your reports is NOT the answer to landing a promotion!
Pointing the issues and outlining the problems is not going to help you if you don't know how to create a solution and deliver it
You want to be noticed by senior management and key decision makers and have a reputation of problem-solver.
Nobody was seeing me and my results... I didn't know how to build a network and get some exposure to the senior management.
I needed to fix the REACH issue.
